Acne is a disorder of the pores.

It can be aggravated by certain drugs, medications or exposure to chemicals, foods, cosmetics, etc., but MOST acne is genetic.

How an acne-prone person sheds their dead skin cells lies the disorder, and this is where the problem begins. In a person with acne, dead skin cells build up inside the pore 5 times faster than in a non-acne-prone person. The acne-prone body is unable to handle it, and inflammation is triggered as a microcomedone is formed.

The microcomedone is the beginning of all acne, taking up to 90 days to form. If the body doesn’t see the microcomedone as an invader, it remains as a non-inflamed lesion, also known as a blackhead or congestion under the skin. If it does, the microcomedone turns into inflamed pimples, pustules, and or even cysts.

JUST HAVING BLACKHEADS IS A FORM OF ACNE!

If your issue is ONLY on your nose, it’s probably only sebaceous filament. There is a difference between sebaceous filament and blackheads around the nose area. You need a professional to determine this; it can’t be seen with the naked eye.

It’s important to treat acne early to avoid scarring.

There are 5 grades of acne. Grade 1 is the mildest form, with open and closed comedones (whiteheads and blackheads). Grades 2 and 3 include papules and pustules as well. Grade 4 advanced form, with all the above plus the appearance of cysts or nodules beneath the skin surface. Grade 5 is all the above plus necrotic tissue and requires medical attention. Acne is not only painful but can be very emotionally and psychologically challenging as well.

Who can benefit from acne treatment?

Anyone who has acne can benefit from treatment. Acne sufferers often state their quality of life and self-esteem improves dramatically once their acne is alleviated. If you are seeking a licensed esthetician’s care, chances are you’ve already tried over-the-counter preparations with disappointing results. Depending on the grade of your acne, your esthetician will go over the treatment options that would be the most successful for you. Once your acne is under control and improving, your esthetician can suggest treatments that will assist you in accelerating the healing process, relieving pigmentation which often accompanies acne.

Visiting your esthetician for acne treatment

Be ready to fill out a medical questionnaire and describe what medications and skin care products you are using. Your therapist will analyze your skin, look for any interactions between products and medications, and devise a treatment plan suitable for your unique needs. Keep in mind that results require a commitment on your behalf to follow a prescribed home care and professional treatment program. This often involves a series of professional treatments. It takes time to balance the skin and treat acne. Though results may not happen overnight, you are on the path to reclaiming your beautiful, clear skin!

What should I expect from my acne treatment?
You should expect regularly scheduled treatments. Your treatment program may begin with an acne facial. This may include deep cleansing and extractions (clearing blocked pores), special exfoliation that will not increase inflammation or spread bacteria, a balancing/calming mask, anti-bacterial and balancing products, or some combination of these. The goal is to deeply cleanse follicles and disinfect them, clearing bacteria and dead skin cells.

Your esthetician may also recommend a series of chemical peels. Once the active acne is cleared, we will assist in minimizing the appearance of scarring and diminishing residual darkening of the skin (hyperpigmentation).

HOW DO I CONTROL IT?
Acne can not be cured, only controlled.
Your acne can be controlled through the continued use of our products, protocols, and corrective in-clinic & virtual treatments. In as little as 12 weeks, you will see a dramatic improvement in your overall complexion. Many people see significant results in the first month. Once your acne is under control, it’s important to follow your CUSTOMIZED protocol to keep your skin clear.

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO GET CLEAR?
Since acne takes up to 90 days to form, you may still have 90 days of acne that will surface. Acne does not come up overnight, nor will it clear overnight.
Our acne products and protocols will keep the new acne from forming.
Our acne protocol will have your acne under control in about three to six months (in most cases), depending on your type of acne. Some types of acne take longer to clear.
Our Acne Specialist will customize a home care protocol that takes at least five things into consideration - your type of acne, your skin type, your skin color, your skin sensitivity and your environment.
The MOST IMPORTANT part of getting your skin clear will be your commitment to doing your home care protocol as instructed and following lifestyle guidelines.

WHY WORK WITH US?
We help acne sufferers achieve clear skin through our easy to follow in depth step by step proven protocol.
We have gone to great lengths to ensure our products are acne-safe. Our products contain only the highest-quality, skin-nourishing ingredients, resulting in significant benefits beyond just treating acne.
Our Acne Specialist will establish a home care protocol based on your skin and acne type that is customized just for you. As experts, we will make necessary adjustments throughout the process. Sometimes, the skin will need hydration, and other times, you’ll need additional correctives to facilitate clearing of the skin.

YOUR COMMITMENT
• Usage of custom home care protocol/products twice daily
• Treatments and/or assessment from your Acne Specialist every 2 weeks
• Home Care Adjustments – consistent adjustments to boost your home care protocol
• Lifestyle Adjustments - foods, medications, cosmetics, stress, and pore-clogging ingredients in skin and hair products

Your progress will be closely monitored by our Certified Acne Specialist, who will make sure you have the best protocol for your skin - making adjustments, if necessary, to get your skin healthy and clear in the fastest way possible.

WHAT ARE ADJUSTMENTS TO HOME CARE?
We assess your skin every 2 weeks to see if we can make your protocol a bit stronger. We do not want your skin to get used to products, but also not make the protocol so strong that your skin gets too dry and irritated. This method will keep your skin clearing up. It’s important to know that your progress may stall if adjustments are not made.
If, for some reason, you cannot make it in for a treatment, you must contact your Acne Specialist to get your next set of instructions for home care protocol adjustment.

WHY TREATMENTS?
Our Acne Specialist will customize each in-person treatment appointment based on the condition of your skin at the time. Our Acne Specialist may also perform extractions to speed up the clearing process. Treatments consist of Acne Facials or Acne DermalInfusion with LED, along with extractions of existing acne. In some cases, enzyme/steam is used. Also, mild corrective peels are used to boost the results.
Virtual appointments are used when clients are not able to come to the clinic, but you should note that the clearing process will take longer.
